Gifts for National Anthem Day

The celebration of National Anthem Day, which takes place on March 3 each year, honors and celebrates the illustrious history of the United States of America’s national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

Like any national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” often inspires us and makes us beam with pride whenever we hear it. Even more poignant than the anthem itself is the story that inspired it. Our national anthem comes from Francis Scott Key’s poem written in 1814, which was inspired by seeing the United States flag, gloriously waving above Fort McHenry, after it was attacked by the British.

While it started off as a song that celebrated patriotism, it was made the national anthem of the United States of America by a congressional resolution signed by President Hoover on March 3, 1931. Since then, it has been played countless times on different occasions, including military ceremonies. Famous singers have given their own renditions in many crowd-drawing sporting events. In 2014, the 200th anniversary of our national anthem was commemorated across the United States.

Today is a great opportunity to remember and learn more about the history of how our national anthem came to be. Show your love and appreciation for our nation with these small American Flags as we celebrate National Anthem Day.
