According to the results of a survey published on February 15, 2022 by Statista, 69 million households in the United States had at least one pet dog, making dogs the most popular pet in the country. Between January to July 2020, searches for puppy-related terms skyrocketed, with “adopt a puppy” as the most searched keyword at that time.
The health and mood-boosting benefits of dogs have also been studied extensively. According to researchers in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a study revealed that dog owners had a decreased risk of heart disease, perhaps because of lifestyle modifications associated with being a dog owner. While the correlation between dogs and the health benefits of owning one is difficult to quantify, there is no doubt that dogs make for great companions.
