Gifts for National VCR Day

Although hundreds of movies are now available on streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu, there was a time when simply watching a film was something to look forward to. On Fridays, we'd go to a nearby Blockbuster store and rent one or two movies to watch over the weekend. We'll only need some snacks and candies to munch on while watching a movie, and we'll be good to go. Ah yes, those were the days!

We're spoilt for choice now so it's hard to imagine that viewing films at home was virtually impossible prior to the VCR. Since its inception as an integral part of American life in the 1950s, television has dominated the scene. There weren't a lot of shows to choose from during the early days of television, so you had to make do with what was available on any given day. The VCR revolutionized all of that by making home video production inexpensive and widely available. The first VCR prototype was developed by Dr. Norikazu Sawazaki in the early 1950s. VCRs at that time were essentially a tool for people to record what they saw on television. However, VHS tapes were nonexistent, making the VCR impractical and costly. When the VHS gained popularity, the VCR industry boomed. The VCR's popularity continued until the 2000s until its rise as the video format of choice was cut short by the arrival of DVD players.

We don't have VCRs nowadays, but that shouldn't stop you from making sure movie night is a great night for your customers. With this Movie Night Gourmet Popcorn Gift Set that can be customized with your business name and logo, you can keep your "pop"-ularity at an all-time high! Call us now to order!
